Cotton - the good, the bad and the ugly
With so much of our daily lives being reliant on delivery these days it's lovely to receive a parcel of environmentally sound goodies in environmentally friendly packaging from Tribe Yarns.
Minimise Skincare's range also subscribes to this ethos and what better way to apply and remove our Carrot & Chamomile Cleansing Balm and to wash with one of our organic soaps than with a infinitely reusable wash cloth?
Sadly though, cotton (the obvious choice for such a product) is the most pesticide intensive crop in the world, requires massive amounts of water in its production and converts natural habitats to agricultural use. There is a lot there not to like. But it's not all bad, cotton unlike a lot of man-made fibres is naturally biodegradable and well-tolerated against the skin by babies, children and people suffering from allergies. What cotton lacks in environmental credentials up to and during the production stage can partly be negated in use and at the end of it's life cycle.
Organic cotton - the good
But is that good enough? At Minimise we believe that there is always a better option out there if only you can track it down and we have. Krea Deluxe is a Danish brand producing GOTS-certified organic cotton in Europe at a small family-owned mill. Grown, sown and harvested without the use of chemical pesticides and artificial fertiliser this cotton is as environmentally-friendly as can be, and washes up beautifully for use over many years.
Look out for our new range of wash cloths which are coming soon.
