and it's role in natural skincare
Today I've been making more stock of the Minimise Rose Geranium & English Mint Hand and Body Balm. So far it has proved to be the most popular hand & body balm in the range and with Mother's Day on the horizon I am expecting that trend to continue.
The 'happy' oil
It seems that we can't get enough of floral aromas but maybe it's more than that. Rose geranium (or using it's correct name Pelargonium Graveolens) essential oil is renowned not just for it's fresh, floral and sweet smelling scent but for it's uplifting properties. It is said to be balancing to both the skin and the emotions and to help ease feelings of stress and anxiety. In essence, it is known as a 'happy' oil.
Blending with Benefits
In the Minimise Hand & Body Balm it is blended with English Mint to subtly enhance the aroma from one-dimensional floral to a more complex slightly herbaceous scent, and in my view it is all the better for it. Like all of the Minimise range, the essential oils used are all of the highest quality. They are in the main part organic (as in the case of Rose Geranium) but where an English oil is available with proven provenance from an artisan producer (as in the case of peppermint) then locality wins the day.
And more benefits...
Rose geranium in skincare products lightens, brightens and removes dead skin cells, yes please to that; balances sebum production so is beneficial to both dry and oily skin types; promotes circulation and has qualities which are healing (think razor nicks) and regenerative. Add to all of this the benefits of the organic vegetable oils which form the base of the Minimise balms and you will surely be on to a winner.
